Gabriel Borges has reached a major career milestone, officially earning more than $1 million in NRHA Lifetime Earnings following his performance at the 2025 NRHA Futurity®. With his results in the Open Finals, Borges crossed the seven-figure mark and earned recognition as the newest NRHA Million Dollar Rider, placing him among an exclusive group of top professionals in the sport.

Borges’ achievement reflects years of consistent success at reining’s highest levels, including futurities, derbies, and elite aged events. Leading into the 2025 NRHA Open Futurity Finals, he delivered a standout preliminary round performance, scoring a 226 on Howdreamsrmade (Magnum Chic Dream x Gotta Diamond Lady). The horse is owned by Carla Hardin and was nominated by breeder Mark Wrissman, and the run positioned Borges at the top of a highly competitive Open field.

He later returned to the arena aboard TR Git R Done (Inferno Sixty Six x Whizzen For Chex), owned by Triple R Equine LLC and nominated by Tamarack Ranch LLC, to secure Co-Reserve Champion honors. His 226.5 score earned $130,000 and pushed his lifetime earnings beyond the $1 million threshold.

Over the years, Borges has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments, including:

  • Champion honors at the 2023 100X Reining Classic Stakes (Level 4) aboard OO7 with a 232 score, earning $150,000
  • Co-Reserve Champion at the 2025 NRHA Open Futurity on TR Git R Done, earning $130,000
  • Level 4 Champion in the 4-Year-Old Stakes at the 2025 100X Reining Classic aboard Spooks Gotta Ice, scoring 229.5 and earning $91,168
  • A fourth-place finish at the 2024 Run For A Million aboard OO7, earning $75,000

  • Level 4 Reserve Champion at the 2024 100X Reining Classic Derby aboard OO7, earning $48,750

A large share of Borges’ success has come aboard OO7 (Gunner Dun It Again x Solidly Spirited), owned by Sandy Vargo and nominated by breeder Lorenz Mueller. Together, the pair earned multiple top finishes at some of reining’s most prestigious and high-paying events. At the same time, Borges’ ability to succeed across a wide range of horses highlights the strength of his training program, adaptability in the show pen, and long-term consistency at the highest level of competition.
